Mission

You might be asking, who is this sci-fi guy, and why is he doing this?  Give me three paragraphs, and I'll explain.

I want to do something with my fantastical art skills, make them useful or inspiring in some way.  I enjoy drawings spaceships and aliens and crazy characters, but just them all alone feels hollow.  And lonely.  There’s no purpose or point to them, not on their own, just a brief spark of emotional enjoyment for myself, which doesn’t last long.  I know now that is because I'm keeping all these ideas to myself, instead of turning them into stories and sharing them with other people.

Stories are where it’s at for me.  I like drawing, and I like writing, and when I put them together and come up with a story, that gives me the greatest sense of fulfillment and purpose ever.  I want to make stories, crazy, fantastic, inspiring adventure stories that I wish I had as a kid, and especially as a teen.

This blog is a log and process book of my efforts to shape my art and illustration skills into interesting, imaginative, and inspiring art and stories in the form of my favorite fiction genre.  Be warned, it will be messy.  I will make mistakes, go down the wrong road and double back, rewrite chapters, redo sketches, abandon ideas, thin the plot bunny herd, even Photoshop specks off my scans (gasp!).  But if all this struggle ends in a good art piece, a good chapter, and in the end a good story, it will all be worth it.  And it will be infinitely more worth it if it inspires someone, causes them to think, or fires them up to achieve their own goals.

That's my mission, and I would be honored to have you join me in this quest.
